The two red wires on the furnace are probably Rh & Rc. If so these can be put 'together' on the R terminal on the old stat. The two W's on the new furnace are probably W1 &v W2 This is for first and second stage heat. You can put the two 'together' on the W terminal on the old stat. Do not hook up the greens (blower fan wires). Do not hook up the blue wires (They would go to the Y terminal on a modern stat for airconditioning. Posted on Apr 10, 2009. This going to be little lengthy. The fan can be on from two reasons.
If your thermostat has a fan switch, it will say ON or AUTO. Put it to AUTO.
Turn your thermostat to its lowest setting and wait 3 or 4 minutes. If the fan stays running, the problem is in the furnace. Newer furnaces have big circuit boards that control all its functions. The fan automatically starts after a factory set period of time (about 45 seconds). Try a HARD reset to get all the furnace functions back to normal. Turn your thermostat as low as it will go. Find the breaker or fuse that serves only the furnace.

Unscrew the fuse or turn off the breaker for a good minute and replace/reset it. If the fan starts right away, the board is probably bad. PC relays often arc together and the entire board will need replacement. If the fan is off, turn your thermostat way up and see if the furnace lights. The fan will probably restart in a minute or so as a normal function, heat or no.
If the furnace does not fire, Let me know and I'll tell you how to check that switch that was replaced. Oct 24, 2013.
